The 2016 Finnish Winter Swimming Championships took place at our home lake, Lake Lohja 29th-31st of January.  Over 800 swimmers from all over the country and few visitors from abroad arrived to take part in “swimming carnival”.  Nearly hundred volunteers from local outdoor club built a beautiful swimming arena/pool in the ice by the Kisakallio Sports Institute beach.

Our swim guides took 1st and 4th places in 25 m breastroke. Also we had the pleasure to form an international 4 x 25 m freestyle relay team and swim together in Friday night’s challenge relays.

Water and air temperatures were around +2 °C. Ice around the pool was 10-25 cm thick.
